Steve Jobs takes health leave Wednesday Jan 14th
Apple founder and current CEO Steve Jobs today announced that he would be standing down temporarily for health reasons. Jobs' health has been a recurring source of rumour and speculation, fuelled by dramatic weight loss over the past year and a decision not to give Apples keynote speech at this years MacWorld exhibition.
Jobs was diagnosed as suffering from pancreatic cancer in 2004, but has since insisted that the cancer has been in remission and that his weight loss was a result of hormone imbalance. However rumours of continuing ill health have been a source of concern for the company with potential risks for investors and shareholders.
The fate of Apple going forward is seen as firmly linked to it's CEO, although Jobs has been at pains to stress the strength of Apples overall management team.
