iPhone OS 3.0 arrives but servers exit Wednesday Jun 17th

After the big announcement at WWDC the launch day of iPhone OS 3.0 proves to have echos of the original 3G launch in that Apple appear to have underestimated the demand. While the iTunes download server appeared able to hand out the software, Apples activation servers went down soon after the software became available.

While reports on the update appear generally favourable, Apples ability to cope with large scale server events has again been called into question.
